As reported last year, pigeons were being spotted around Las Vegas with tiny little hats on. This video went viral, catching a glimpse of one of the pigeons with hats.
Then we updated everyone about the pigeons who were named Cluck Norris and Coolamity Jane they had been captured and as feared the hats were glued. Lofty Hopes Pigeon Rescue took to social media and posted that Billy the Pidge had passed away.
We are saddened to announce that Billie the Pidge has passed away,” Lofty Hopes Pigeon Rescue tweeted on Jan. 12. “She was weak when we caught her and had lost toes to stringfoot in addition to the hat being glued onto her head.”
Billy was only one of several of the pigeons who were humanely caught with hats on their heads, it is unclear if Billy’s death is linked to the hat being glued onto their head. Though stringfoot occurs when a pidgeon’s foot becomes entangled into something such as string, plastic, or any other debris. It is a common problem that urban pigeons face.
