“Wonder Women Burlesque” Returns To Los Angeles

The Hollywood Jane Revue, one of Los Angeles’s prominent burlesque troupes, invites geeky SoCal burlesque fans to enjoy an evening of cosplay cabaret as they celebrate their second year of their fandom fueled show “Wonder Women Burlesque.” If you did not attend their show last year, HJR promises another night full of super-powered strip teases based off the most iconic heroines in comics, TV, and film. WWBII takes place August 6th, and like previous shows pays tribute to some of the strongest women in pop-culture.

Hosted at the Rockwell Table and Stage, the Hollywood Jane Revue is a veteran burlesque troupe when it comes to putting on iconic nerdlesque shows. Back to the Future fans may be familiar with their popular “Rack to the Future” show, or if dinosaurs are your jam you may be interested in learning more about “Jurassic Peek.”

Expect to see appearances from iconic characters such as kink-inspired superheroine Wonder Woman, MCU superstar Captain Marvel, and possibly a villain or two to add a little more spice to the evening. Guests can look forward to seeing sexy, empowering, and all-out nerdy performances by Georgia O’Queef, Blanche Bourgeois, Gwen Ruby, Alice Le Grande, Caramel Knowledge, Lemi Atom, Cerise La Bombe, Amber Dextrous, Eva Ziegfield, and Lady Sapphire Noir.

Tickets range from $12 to $17 and can be purchased at the Hollywood Jane Revue’s website. The show begins at 8PM, but as someone who has attended many of their shows in the past, it is a good idea to get to the Rockwell early since street parking near Vermont Ave. can sometimes be difficult to find, though there is valet parking located right behind the venue. There is also a two item minimum at the Rockwell, so budget for that as well. The drinks and cuisine are posh like the venue itself, so keep that mind.

If cosplay burlesque sounds like your jam, but you have never been to a burlesque show before, Hollywood Jane Revue is very inclusive to new attendees. And strip-teases aside, what makes the show so memorable is that the performers actually know and care about the characters they portray, which is apparent in the details of their costumes and props.
