Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

We really love covering notable memorabilia auctions from the big houses like Profiles In History, Prop Block, Heritage, and Julien’s Auction House. The latter of these has a new auction coming up next month, and as per usual- some items of note are listed in their Icons & Idols Trilogy: Hollywood event in December. There are items like Tom Cruise’s original “Top Gun” production-used hero Maverick flight helmet from the late Tony Scott’s seminal 1986 Paramount Film, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s infamous leather jacket from 1984’s The Terminator, and perhaps the most timely item- Sir Sean Connery’s signature Walther PP prop pistol…

We are so very sad to share the news that “Jeopardy” host and longtime tv personality Alex Trebek has unfortunately lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. He passed away early Sunday morning at home, surrounded by family and friends. Trebek had been publicly battling the illness since 2019, and had been very public about the struggle. Ryan Reynolds just shared this tidbit about Trebek having a cameo in the film “Free Guy.” He was 80 years old, and we will no doubt not see his like on television again. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends, and fans the…

Introducing Tesla Tequila, an exclusive, premium 100% de agave tequila añejo aged in French oak barrels, featuring a dry fruit and light vanilla nose with a balanced cinnamon pepper finish Unfortunately for us,…

This just in- Johnny Depp has resigned from the Warner Bros. Pictures “Harry Potter” adjacent film series “Fantastic Beasts,” following the studio’s request he do so. This news comes after a court in the UK found in favor of tabloid The Sun after Depp sued them for libel and slander after the outlet referred to Depp as a “wifebeater” (in the case of Amber Heard’s accusations that Depp beat her repeatedly) without the words “allegedly” or “reportedly.” Depp posted to his Instagram: In light of recent events, I would like to make the following short statement.Firstly, I’d like to thank…

The more we go back and watch “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” the more we like it. It’s adventure, intrigue, action, and cheeky comedy all wrapped in a “Star Wars” package. It also seems to be something that a larger audience than one would think wants more of, either in an additional film, or a possible Disney+ series. This is something director Ron Howard has thought about, and recently commented on while speaking with the Lights Camera Barstool Podcast. No rumblings on it. This is not a spoiler, but I think there is interest in those characters. I think there’s…

File this under “reasons I’m not ever gonna be allowed to be a Navy pilot.” According to Guy Snodgrass (what a freaking AMAZING name), former pilot and Top Gun instructor’s book “TOPGUN’s Top 10: Leadership Lessons from the Cockpit,” recruits in the infamous flight school program would be fined $5 for every time they quoted Tony Scott’s 80s arial adventure flick “Top Gun.”But….all the incredibly quotable moments from the film! We think this is hilarious, but also understandable from the institution’s standpoint. To quote Snodgrass’s tome directly: I think that’s [watching Top Gun] where my real true initial love for naval aviation…

Oddly enough, we had just been watching Neil Marshall’s pretty excellent werewolf flick “Dog Soldiers” during Spooky Season, and this possible sequel news has us really excited.”Dog Soldiers,” which stars Kevin McKidd (“Rome”), Liam Cunningham (“Game of Thrones”), and Sean Pertwee (“Gotham”) was released back in 2002, and focuses on a group of special forces soldiers doing war games in the Scottish Highlands. It being the Highlands during a full moon- the group is attacked by werewolves, and a struggle to survive ensues.
