Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

While writing about Disneyland right now is somewhat frustrating, the idea that someday soon we may able to visit again is comforting. Having been closed for over a year, the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ is making some long overdue changes, upgrades, and more during this down time. Along with some notable facelifts for popular rides and attractions like Splash Mountain and The Jungle Cruise, there will be something changing at the iconic Blue Bayou restaurant in New Orleans Square. Generally known as “that place you can see from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride” aka “throw us some bread!,” the…

As things start to shift towards reopening and some small semblance of ‘normal,’ it shouldn’t be a surprise that studios are still moving around their film releases. For over a year, the film industry has been in a state of panic re: theaters. Disney, WB, Universal, and Sony have all experimented with a mix of digital and theatrical releases. But, with the pandemic still prevalent, a solid slate of movie dates is still elusive. This isn’t the fault of the studios, or the movie theaters. This is completely a case of needing to wait patiently for the vaccination numbers to…

For what ever reason, a rumor has been circulating for some time that Naboo Senator Jar Jar Binks would be making an appearance in “Kenobi.” It would make sense in a way, right? We absolutely adore this LEGO Master Builder creation, recreating the iconic interracial kiss between William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols from “Star Trek: The Original Series.” The moment in question was high controversial at the time, but has become a touchstone for the social changes ushered by Gene Roddenberry’s seminal science fiction series. Gene Roddenberry would have turned 100 this year, and the Great Bird of the Galaxy’s memory is being honored with this creation and much, much more. Samuel Hatmaker, contestant on “LEGO Masters” season 1, is behind this particular build, reimagining the iconic moment. In season 3 episode 10 of…
