Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

Just when we thought there couldn’t possibly be more Stephen King adaptations in the ziegist, a new one comes along. In this instance, it’s Paramount Pictures rebooting “The Running Man,” with Edgar Wright set to direct. “But it wasn’t written by Steven King!,” you might say. Ho-ho, you’d be wrong. The novel was published in 1982 by author Richard Bachman, one of King’s pseudonyms. It was adapted into a feature film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1987, but this new version won’t be a reboot of that. According to the usual suspects, Wright will be co-writing the script with Michael Bacall,…

This time the costumes didn’t fool the attending staff, who immediately called shenanigans.Orange Country Florida health administrator Dr. Raul Pino said the two women showed up as grannies again attempting to get their second shots. While they DID have valid vaccination cards from the previous visit, the two were turned away from getting the…

“For All Mankind” is one of those special shows that comes along once in a generation. The Apple TV+ alternative history series answers the questions what if the USA never really got out of the space race, and what would’ve happened if the Russians landed on the moon first? From the get-go, “For All Mankind” immediately had our attention. Co-created by Ronald D. Moore of “Battlestar Galactica” fame, we knew we could expect a certain level of awesome. It does not disappoint, in any aspect. The show absolutely captures the optimism and endurance of NASA, as well as the dramatic tensions of…

Our hats off to those soothsayers, those prognosticators of animation- “The Simpsons.” In yet another example of how the long-running cartoon series perfectly (kinda) predicted the future, the current Senator from Texas travel fiasco involving Ted Cruz almost perfectly lines up with a similar Mayor Quimby moment.Perhaps you’re aware of the current situation in Texas, where some residents are going on almost 72 hours with no power (and no water in other areas) following a storm of arctic temperatures. A complete collapse of the state’s power grid followed, and the blame was quickly assigned to various renewable energy alternatives (which…
