Today is the 55th anniversary of “Star Trek” making its premiere on tv. We feel confident in calling it the most influential television series ever, considering just how much Gene Roddenberry’s vision permeated science, tech, and the inspirational soul of all who watched it. In chatting with some colleagues about “Star Trek,” I was reminded of one of the strangest crossovers featuring the series and Marvel Comics staple the X-Men.I’m speaking of course of the woefully ignored paperback masterpiece, “Planet X (Star Trek: The Next Generation).” This 1998 novel by Michael Jan Friedman is actually the 3rd crossover between the X-Men comic book series and the…

Comedian, actor, writer John Mulaney has sure seen his fair share of ups and downs recently. A fairly public stint in rehab, a very public divorce, and then a paparazzi-fueled life update about becoming a parent with Olivia Munn? Yeah, and that was all within the last year! Mulaney himself decided to address the various things as only he can- with direct candor and honesty. During a segment on “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” Mulaney touched on pretty much everything he’s been through in the last year. Including hosting “Saturday Night Live,” checking into rehab very soon after, his marriage…
Maybe we’re getting sentimental with our old age. We’ll admit it, after a certain point, everything is either nostalgic or a reminder of our own mortality. This week, Nick Jr. is celebrating children’s show “Blues Clues,” which has turned the big 2-5. We were not expecting this video message from Blue’s original pal Steve (Steven Michael Burns) to bring such joy to our day. If you’ll recall, Steve started out as host on the show when it first aired in 1996 until his…pretty sudden departure in 2002. The show did handle the transition smoothly, bringing in Steve’s brother Joe (Donovan…

There are roughly 180,000 versions of what you’ll see, depending on the time you chose to watch,…

If you thought the ever-moving movie release slate was done with adjustments, you’d be WRONG. Announced this morning, Sony’s upcoming “Venom” sequel has changed dates yet again. This time however, it’s a move forward rather than a delay. According to the official “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” social medias, the film will NOW be hitting theaters on October 1st, rather than the 15th. This could be due to the theatrical release-only success of Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings,” which is seeing the highest Labor Day opening ever at around $90 million. Seriously, “Shang-Chi” has shattered…

Dragon Con 2021 is happening right now. With panels covering everything in fandom from “Star Trek” to “Steven Universe,” there’s a little bit for everyone. A bit of news for you “American Gods” fans from Ricky Whittle himself happened during a panel for the cancelled series. In a question from the audience, Ricky (who plays Shadow Moon on the show) and Omid Abtahi (Salim) were asked what’s up with a possible 4th season. If you’ll recall, the news came back in March that STARZ had cancelled the show after season 3. Creator Neil Gaiman was quick to say the show…
