Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
We are so very sorry to report that Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane has passed away. Coltrane was arguably best known for his role as Rubeus Hagrid in the “Harry Potter” franchise. He also appeared in Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond films, starting with “Goldeneye.” With a career spanning decades across screens big and small, we last saw Coltrane in the Warner Bros. Pictures “Harry Potter” reunion special. Fan concern about his health was almost immediate. He was 72.
This just in-it would appear the story about Harrison Ford replacing the late William Hurt as General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross in Marvel Studios pictures is…true? Hurt first appeared as Ross in “The Incredible Hulk,” and continued to pop up every so often. With Marvel Studios announcing “Thunderbolts” as a stand alone picture, it makes sense the character would need to continue. Honestly, we’re pretty excited to see Ford join the MCU. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
We got a front-row seat for the biggest post-apocalyptic festival in the world! We’re talking of course about the one and only Wasteland Weekend, the 5-day fully immersive desert festival held in the Mojave Desert in California. Celebrating their 13th year in 2022, Wasteland continued to BRING IT with “Mad Max” inspired vehicles, camps, performances, and costumes. Yes, they even have a freaking Thunderdome! We are delighted to share the official trailer for season 3 of AppleTV+’s series, “Mythic Quest!” The show, which has become a favorite, kind of came out of nowhere, and absolutely delivered the goods. First and foremost, it’s really wonderful to see the works of the late great Anne Rice still being talked about. AMC has a television series adaptation of “Interview with the Vampire” airing right now, which is probably Rice’s best-known work. But in the midst of the Vampire Chronicles comes another New Orleans tale. We never thought we’d be looking at a world with nearly as many Harley Quinn performers as Batman.
