This entire DC Studios thing just keeps getting weirder and weirder. After already confirming a “Man of Steel 2” was on the way, it would appear that is no longer the case. James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios along with Peter Safran, is apparently penning a brand new “Superman” film, WITHOUT Henry Cavill. Gunn does say he had a meeting with Cavill about working together in the future, but this current script will be about Superman at an earlier stage in life. So, another recasting. Cavill has since commented on the situation on his Instagram. Ok we did think of…

BOY. Amazon has OFFICIALLY ordered a live-action series adaptation of Santa Monica Studio’s popular “God of War” game franchise. This has been in the works for some time, and this morning, the streaming studio confirmed the greenlight. Rafe Judkins (“The Wheel of Time”) will showrun. Mark Fergus (“Iron Man”) and Hawk Ostby (“The Expanse”) will write and produce the show. And yes, Cory Barlog will be involved as an executive producer. “The series follows Kratos, the God of War, who, after exiling himself from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, hangs up his weapons forever in the Norse realm of…
It’s Wednesday, and that means we’ve had a few days of baseless rumors making the rounds from tinsel town. Normally, these are “sourced” stories from certain “outlets” making inflammatory claims about casting, news, and other choice subjects. Variety, usually one of the leaders in the entertainment journalism industry, ran a lede DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has refuted as false. “A well-placed source says Gunn and Safran are exploring the possibility of incorporating filmmaker Matt Reeves’ iteration of Batman with actor Robert Pattinson into their wider universe,” the story claims. Gunn, as he often does (bless him), took to Twitter to…

A couple of things from filmmaker Patty Jenkins, in her own words. We all recently learned about the newly created arm of Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios’ decision to cancel Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman 3.” Whether it was a decision of the WB side, or the co-CEOs of DC Studios is still to be determined. What has been clarified tis whether or not Patty, as some unscrupulous outlets reported, “stormed off” from the meetings, or “rage quit,” or any of the other numerous choice phrases used to describe the situation. Jenkins posted her full thoughts on the subject, including an update…
With “The Walking Dead” main series finally over, what’s next for Norman Reedus? We know there’s a spinoff that was supposed to focus on Reedus’ character Darryl along with Melissa McBride’s Carol, but McBride’s departure from the series makes it a different thing altogether. The news as of today is about the NEXT next thing- he’s joining the “John Wick” spinoff “Ballerina” from Lionsgate! The film stars Ana de Armas, with Len Wiseman directing from a script by Shay Hatten. Other confirmed cast include Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and Catalina Sandino Moreno. Yes, Mr. Wick himself Keanu Reeves…

This just in-Legendary Pictures’ upcoming live-action film adaptation of ever-popular manga and anime “My Hero Academia” is headed to Netflix. Shinsuke Sato is directing, from a script by Joby Harold (“Obi Wan Kenobi,” “Army of the Dead”). There’s no word on casting yet, or possible start date for production. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other “quirky” news.
SHAI HULUD! According to one of the stars of Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming “Dune: Part 2,” filming has wrapped. Well, at least in Wadi Rum in Jordan. Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet, who plays Paul Atreides, posted the news to his Instagram. Reports have varied as to when principal photography would finish, but this seems like a good indication. Whether or not the sequel will hit it’s current November 3rd, 2023 release date remains to be seen. We’re thinking it’ll get pushed into the spring of 2024, possibly. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news from Arrakis.
This morning, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced their official list of Golden Globes nominees for 2023. There were some expected noms, surprises, and the usual honorees. But for the second year in a row, not a single woman director. There is of course a lot we can say about that little factoid, but it really speaks volumes on its own. Considering the continual controversies from the HFPA, we guess this isn’t surprising. We’re really not surprised to see the great Angela Bassett get a nod for her deeply emotional turn in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The buzz in tinsel…
