After years of rumors, we finally know who will be taking on the mantle of iconic Marvel Comics character Madame Web. As announced today, Dakota Johnson (“50 Shades of Grey,” “Susperia”) will star as the character. Technically a mutant, the clairvoyant Madame Web is an important figure in the Spider-verse. She not only mentors generations of Spider-Woman, but also Peter Parker. When word came that Disney was working on a sequel to beloved witchy film “Hocus Pocus,” we were concerned. The original cast didn’t get confirmed for at least a year, there were questions about directors and scripts.
