Oh, Batfleck. We were dubious at best when you were announced as Bruce Wayne. You did, for the most part, convince us you worked in THAT version of the Justice League. But oddly enough the thing we wanted to see the most was Ben Affleck DIRECT a film in that universe. Which of course didn’t happen, and is actually how we got to Matt Reeves’ “The Batman.” Never one to mix words on his feelings, the Oscar-winning filmmaker has actually answered one of the big questions after the announcement of Warner Bros. Pictures’ new DC Comics based arm, DC Studios.…

We are SO EXCITED to share this news! Thanks to Oscars darling studio A24, we’re getting an official 4K restoration and theatrical release of Jonathan Demme’s incredible Talking Heads concert film, “Stop Making Sense.” The release is to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary. The announcement promo released this morning is absolutely charming. David Byrne heads to a dry cleaners, to pick up something that’s “been there awhile.” What is it you ask, why IT’S HIS ICONIC BIG SUIT!! The original film was shot over three nights at the Hollywood Pantages in 1983. It features Talking Heads members Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris…
This just in- DC Studios co-head James Gunn has confirmed he will direct the upcoming new Superman film, “Superman Legacy,” which he also wrote. The filmmaker revealed a little bit more about why the project’s release date- July 11th, 2023- is important. Yes, I’m directing Superman: Legacy to be released on July 11, 2025. My brother Matt told me when he saw the release date he started to cry. I asked him why. He said, “Dude, it’s Dad’s birthday.” I hadn’t realized. I lost my Dad almost three years ago. He was my best friend. He didn’t understand me as…
We are sorry to report Disney+’s “Willow” series will not be getting a second season. Hailing from original film director Ron Howard, the continuation of the adventures of Willow premiered in 2022 to mixed reviews. Some fans found it to be a pretty great show- blending high fantasy elements with humor- while others didn’t care for some of the story choices. Warwick Davis, who played the character of Willow in the original film, led a cast including Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Amer Chadha-Patel, and Tony Revolori. Creatives on the series were hopeful for more, and we can’t blame…
After what seems like an eternity, multi-Oscar-winner Guillermo del Toro is finally getting his dream project off the ground. Fans of GdT know of his love for Mary Shelly’s iconic and genre defining tome, “Frankenstein,” and his efforts to make his own film version for literally decades. The news this morning is that Netflix is moving forward with del Toro’s version! He’ll be writing and directing, of course. Chatter includes rumored stars Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, and Andrew Garfield. We’re not sure who each of them would maybe be playing if the talks come to fruition. We’re hoping Doug Jones gets…
It is very likely we’ll be seeing the return of filmmaker Zack Snyder to DC films. Or should we say, his addition to DC Studios, the newly launched DC Comics arm of Warner Bros. Pictures, co-headed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Early this morning, “Man of Steel” and “Justice League” helmer Snyder teased something big. A “message from Lord Darkseid” is apparently coming April 28th-30th. Combined with the hashtag “full circle,” this could mean anything. Another Snyder film? Another cut of another Snyder film? And more Darkseid?? “Created by the great Jack Kirby, Darkseid is one of the biggest…
Are there any DC Comics characters who AREN’T getting their own project or worked into something? [Don’t say “Batgirl,” too soon, too soon.] Turns out a tried and true favorite character may be returning, at least in animated form. While answering questions on Twitter, DC Films co-CEO James Gunn kinda sorta said an animated Wonder Woman something is in the works. Obviously that’s a short and sweet answer, but, we’re here for it. Several comic creators jumped into the thread, including Jimmy Palmiotti, who reminded us of the run he and Amanda Conner did. AND, our favorite, Gail Simone. YES…

Ok, first and foremost- while this juicy headline makes a lot of sense, there is no PROOF it’s a thing. Yet. We say yet, because there is every possibility it does end up happening. Jenna Ortega, star of Netflix’s hit series “Wednesday,” may (or may not) be joining the ever-long-gestating “Beetlejuice 2” film. Rumors of a followup film based on Tim Burton’s 1988 classic “Beetlejuice” starring Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Winnona Rider, Catherine O’Hara, and Alec Baldwin pop up every 6 months or so. But so far, nothing concrete has happened. That said, with the success of “Wednesday,” which Burton…
