HBO has announced it is working on a two-part documentary about the late Paul Reubens titled “Pee Wee As Himself.” In July 2023, Reubens, who played the iconic Pee Wee Herman on “Pee-wee’s Playhouse,” passed away.  The announcement was made via a cryptic six-second clip posted to HBO’s streaming arm, Max’s social media. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced comedian Conan O’Brien will host the 97th Academy Awards. Warner Bros. Pictures is remaking the groundbreaking 1956 sci-fi classic “Forbidden Planet.” The script will be written by Hugo and Eisner Award-winning comic book and screenwriter Brian K. Vaughan (“LOST,” “Y: The Last Man”). Lionsgate is getting in on the trend of turning beloved fairy tale characters into bloodthirsty murderers. This time around it will be an R-rated take on “The Little Mermaid.” Aurora will be joining other recently reimagined characters like Winnie the Pooh, Pinnochio, Bambi, and The Grinch. Sony’s planned remake of Rodman Flender’s 1999 horror comedy “Idle Hands” is starting to take shape. Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”) and Billy Bryk have signed on to write the reboot, with Jason Reitman (“Saturday Night”) producing. Wolfhard and Bryk may direct the upcoming feature as well.
