Hi, I’m Ada. I like long walks in the graveyard, horror movies, comic books, and bringing you the latest in nerd-centric news.

Director Pierre Morel (“Taken”) is back with another action thriller, “Canary Black” for Amazon MGM Studios. Written by Matthew Kennedy (“Inheritance”), the film seems like a straightforward spy thriller about a CIA operative on the run.  “Canary Black,” boasts an all-star cast of Kate Beckinsale (“Underworld”), Rupert Friend (“Hitman: Agent 47”), and the late Ray Stevenson (“Ahsoka”) in one of his final roles. Along with Saffron Burrows (“The Bank Job”), Ben Miles (“Andor”), Goran Kostić (“Taken”), Michael Brandon (“Episodes”), and Charles Nishikawa (“Touch”). The film centers around top CIA operative, Avery Graves (Beckinsale), who is blackmailed by terrorists into betraying…

Nowadays it’s almost impossible to get by without some kind of social media presence. Given horror legend John Carpenter’s active X (formally Twitter) account it wasn’t surprising to see a Letterboxd profile bearing his name pop up. That is until he started reviewing his own films. “They paid me more money than I had ever seen to write a sequel to a film that did not need one,” the now-deleted account wrote about “Halloween 2.” “I took the check and spent it on beers to get me drunk enough to plow through this crap. I looked at the final script,…

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) has been kicking ass and taking names in his own namesake franchise for awhile. Now, it’s Eve’s (Ana de Armas) turn to get in on the fun in “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina.” Which Lionsgate just dropped the first trailer for.  “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina” Thankfully the trailer doesn’t seem to reflect the film’s troubled production. It initially wrapped filming in 2022, with a planned June 2024 release. However, in February the studio chose to push the release back to June 2025. This was to allow franchise director Chad Stahelski to…

With the current state of the world, it’s safe to say most of us are sick of politics. So much so, that we may get a bit of schadenfreude from seeing political leaders in peril. At least, that’s what the upcoming apocalyptic horror comedy “Rumours” hopes for. Co-directed by Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson, and Galen Johnson from a script written by Evan. This satirical film seeks to lampoon the state of modern government.  Straddling the lines between comedy, horror, and soap opera, “Rumours” follows seven leaders of the world’s wealthiest democracies at the annual G7 summit. During the summit, they…

The rumor mill is working overtime about HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” reboot series. One thing we can confirm is Jared Harris (“Mad Men”), son of late actor Richard Harris, will NOT  be taking on the role of Dumbledore.  In a recent interview with The Independent, Jared revealed that he had been approached for the role. He responded with; “No, thank you.” “Also, I mean, why do it? I don’t understand,” he added. “The films were fantastic – leave them alone.” However, Jared did concede that films left out “a lot of storytelling” from the J.K. Rowling novels they are based…

In an…interesting move, Netflix will be releasing the documentary “The Menendez Brothers,” directed by Alejandro Hartmann, in early October.  While the streamer is no stranger to true crime content, it is odd that it will air almost a month after the premiere of “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.”  A season of the Ryan Murphy-created series “Monster” about Lyle and Erik Menendez’s murder of their parents in 1996. “The Menendez Brothers” The trailer boasts about having both brothers being interviewed from prison. “Everyone asks why we killed our parents,” says Lyle. “Maybe now people can understand the truth.” “What…

Today we have some news from the wholesome side of the internet. The Master of Horror himself John Carpenter (“Halloween”) took to X (formally Twitter) to praise the video game “Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown.” Given that the game came out eight months ago, this was a random, but kind bit of cross-media feedback.  The next day, “Prince Of Persia” creator Jordan Mechner responded to the post, talking about how much Carpenter inspired him.  “?❤️@thehorrormaster Your films were formative for me,” he responded. “This one came out while I was programming the first @princeofpersia on Apple II. I even…
