Hi, I’m Amy. I like long walks in the graveyard, horror movies, comic books, and bringing you the latest in nerd-centric news.

Is there any sci-fi fan who hasn’t had the age-old debate over whether “Alien” or “Aliens” is better? For the newest addition to the franchise, “Alien: Romulus,” filmmaker Fede Álvarez (“Evil Dead” 2013) had to decide which path to take. Should he go with a more straight-up haunted-house horror movie plot like Ridley Scott’s original film? In 2006, Zack Snyder co-wrote and directed the movie “300” based on a graphic novel of the same name by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley. The novel and film are loosely based on historical events, and the 1962 film “The 300 Spartans.” Turns out, a prequel series is currently in early development at Warner Bros. Television, with Snyder involved. The show being a prequel is about all we know about the plot at this time. Currently, there isn’t a writer or platform attached to the project. So when we say early development, we *MEAN* EARLY development. The film tells the story…

In 1988, Tim Burton unleashed the ghost with the most onto the world with “Beetlejuice.” Almost 36 years later, he plans to do it again with the long-gestating sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” Unlike many sequels done long after the fact, this project has most of the original cast back including Michael Keaton as the titular ghoul and Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz. Both Keaton and Ryder have been gushing about their experience working on the film. Despite Keaton finding jumping back into the black and white striped suit a bit surreal at first. “There’s been so much merchandising of it, I…

Over Memorial Day weekend, the Cabot Theater in Beverly, Massachusetts held a special screening of the 1975 classic “Jaws.” What made the screening so special was Richard Dreyfuss, who played Hooper in the film, would be doing a Q&A. Things didn’t go as planned, as the highly decorated actor said some things during the appearance that prompted several people to walk out, and the Cabot Theater to issue an apology.  According to members of the audience, the “Mr. Holland’s Opus” star went on a “transphobic, homophobic [and] misogynistic” rant. He badly touched on the #MeToo movement, “Nuts” co-star Barbara Streisand…

Last year, “The Exorcist: Believer” directed by David Gordon Green (“Halloween Ends”) opened to pretty negative critical response. Not long after, Green left the planned reboot trilogy he signed on to do with Blumhouse. It has now been confirmed that Mike Flanagan (“The Fall of the House of Usher”) will write, direct, and produce the next installment of the iconic horror franchise.  Flanagan’s Take on “The Exorcist” Blumhouse describes Flanagan’s film as a “radical new take” on the franchise. It will NOT be a sequel to “Believer,” but it will take place in the same universe. Our guess is they…
