Actress Sydney Sweeney (“Immaculate”) is in talks to star in a new adaptation of “The Masque of the Red Death!” This is thought to be a darkly comedic take on Poe’s classic tale, courtesy of A24 and Picturestart. Poe’s short story centers around a prince attempting to avoid a plague known as the Red Death. So he initiates lockdown procedures and holds up in his abbey before things begin to go awry. However, specific plot details for this new film adaptation are still under wraps. Charlie Polinger (“The Plague”) is…

The film follows a young journalist (Ayo Edebiri) who gets invited to the remote compound of a reclusive pop star (John Malkovich). His entourage of die-hard fans seemingly spurs on the star’s erratic behavior, and it isn’t too long before a nefarious plan starts to unfold. Edebiri (“The Bear”) and Malkovich star alongside Juliette Lewis (“Yellowjackets”), Murray Bartlett (“PonyBoi”), and Amber Midthunder (“Prey”). As well as Tatanka Means (“Killers of The Flower Moon”), Young Mazino (“Beef”), Tamera Tomakili (“Blindspotting”) and Stephanie Suganami (“Power…

We’re neck deep in awards season, and Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist” has already raked in three Golden Globes. The film is receiving criticism after an editor admitted the filmmakers used AI to tweak stars Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones’ Hungarian dialogue. As well as to help create a sequence towards the end. A few hours after this news broke, the director responded backing up certain claims while dismissing others. AI In Dialogue “The Brutalist” centers around Hungarian refugees who emigrate to the U.S. after World War II. As you can imagine this means that most of the dialogue is Hungarian.…

The Supreme Court has made a landmark decision that will forever change the landscape of digital media. It has ruled, unanimously, to uphold a law that will cause the video platform TikTok to be banned nationwide on Sunday. This is despite promises by President-Elect Donald Trump to rescue the wildly popular app. The ruling, issued on January 17th, claims the law in question does not violate the First Amendment, because the law is against TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, not its right to free speech. The court believes ByteDance has provided user data to the Chinese government, and/or has a…
A recent casting announcement has cleared up some lore around the Wes Craven-created “Scream” franchise. In Radio Silence’s 2022 “Scream” reboot Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) makes two references to a husband named Mark. Fans and IMDB were convinced the character married Detective Mark Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey) from “Scream 3.” But casting decision for the next film has blown that theory out of the water. It turns out, Joel McHale (“Community,” “Animal Control”) will be playing Sidney’s husband Mark Evans in the upcoming film. McHale will be joining legacy cast members Courteney Cox and Mason Gooding as Gale Weathers and Chad…
Last year, director Fede Alvarez bought us “Alien: Romulus,” a film designed to take place between 1979’s “Alien” and 1986’s “Aliens.” It also rolled in later franchise entries with references to 1997’s “Alien: Resurrection,” 2012’s “Prometheus,” and the 2014 video game “Alien: Isolation.” Creating a movie heavily steeped in the mythology of its predecessors, while introducing new characters and its own variations. Alvarez says he will take a different path if a sequel to “Romulus” ever comes to fruition. Alvarez’s Follow-Up “Rodo [Sayagues, co-writer] and I are working on that right now,” Alvarez told Empire. “We’re excited about where it…
