As the release date for the live-action remake of “How to Train Your Dragon” approaches, the marketing campaign is heating up. Roughly two months after the first teaser trailer, we just got a second one. While the teasers are very similar, this latest release gives us a bit more about Hiccup and Toothless’ first meeting. We’re neck deep in awards season, and Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist” has already raked in three Golden Globes. The film is receiving criticism after an editor admitted the filmmakers used AI to tweak stars Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones’ Hungarian dialogue. As well as to help create a sequence towards the end. A few hours after this news broke, the director responded backing up certain claims while dismissing others. The cast of DC Studio’s upcoming film “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is really starting to take shape. David Krumholtz (“The Santa Clause,” “Oppenheimer”) and Emily Beecham (“1899”) have just been confirmed to be attached to the project. The Supreme Court has made a landmark decision that will forever change the landscape of digital media. It has ruled, unanimously, to uphold a law that will cause the video platform TikTok to be banned nationwide on Sunday. This is despite promises by President-Elect Donald Trump to rescue the wildly popular app.  The ruling, issued on January 17th, claims the law in question does not violate the First Amendment, because the law is against TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, not its right to free speech. A recent casting announcement has cleared up some lore around the Wes Craven-created “Scream” franchise. In Radio Silence’s 2022 “Scream” reboot Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) makes two references to a husband named Mark. Fans and IMDB were convinced the character married Detective Mark Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey) from “Scream 3.” But casting decision for the next film has blown that theory out of the water. Last year, director Fede Alvarez bought us “Alien: Romulus,” a film designed to take place between 1979’s “Alien” and 1986’s “Aliens.” It also rolled in later franchise entries with references to 1997’s “Alien: Resurrection,” 2012’s “Prometheus,” and the 2014 video game “Alien: Isolation.” Creating a movie heavily steeped in the mythology of its predecessors, while introducing new characters and its own variations.
