On March 16th, a group of South African scientists asked to be evacuated from a several-month-long study in Antarctica. Their pleas were due to concerns about a team member allegedly becoming physically violent. (We know this is the plot of John Carpenter’s “The Thing” but remember that these are real people who are in potential danger.) Today their request was denied by the South African government. The team consists of 10 scientists who set out for the Sanae IV Antarctic base on February 1st. Their study will last for 15 months, with 10 of them being spent in total isolation…

The late Marvel Comics co-founder Stan Lee left an incalculable mark on the entertainment industry as a whole. As co-creator of Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Avengers, and many more, his characters have appeared in comics, television series, movies, toys, and merchandise worldwide. About a decade before Lee passed in 2018, he met Jon Bolerjack, a comic fan and documentarian who pitched a reality show. Lee agreed, and Bolerjack began filming him at conventions, autograph signings, sets, movie premieres, and his home. This footage he has now used to create the upcoming documentary “Stan Lee: The Final Chapter,” focusing on the…

In 2001, “Atlantis: The Lost Empire” hit theaters about an intrepid group of explorers on a quest to find Atlantis. The animated film was a rare critical and commercial flop for Disney Studios but has since become a cult hit. Among this fandom is filmmaker Jonathan Munoz, who just released a really cool fan trailer of what a live-action adaptation might look like. Disney currently has NO plans to do a live-action remake of the film. This trailer is purely Munoz’s vision for what it would look like if one were to be developed. We are being this nitpicky on language…
Since 1962, Chicago has famously dyed its river green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. This year’s dying event happened on March 15th, and had a special appearance by New Jersey legend the Toxic Avenger! Our favorite monster wasn’t just there to party, he is also working hard to promote Macon Blair’s (“Room 104”) reboot, which FINALLY has a theatrical release date. The original film hit theaters in 1984 and was co-directed by Troma Entertainment co-founders Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman. It tells the story of Melvin, a bullied janitor at the Tromaville health spa who falls into a vat of…
One of the biggest rules in entertainment is if something is popular, make more of it, fast. Disney Branded Television and 20th Television are sticking to that, ordering “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” for a 3rd season. (Even though the Disney+ show’s 2nd season won’t premiere until December 2025.) “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is based on the popular young adult novels by Rick Riordan. The 3rd novel, “The Titan’s Curse,” will inspire season 3 of the TV series. “From the moment ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of…
Are you bummed that the release of “The Batman 2” has been pushed back to October, 2027? Well for those who can’t get enough of the Caped Crusader, State Farm is here to help fill the void. The insurance company has launched a new ad campaign centered around the legendary DC Comics character. In the new commercial Jason Bateman (“Carry-On”) stars as “Bate-man,” an inferior version of Batman. The dime-store crime fighter Mr. Magoos his way through several classic situations for the Dark Knight, like watching Catwoman (SZA) pull off a heist. Shockingly, him asking her politely to stop did…
