Three shows from this deal- “Overlook,”  “Justice League Dark,” and “Duster”- were announced in 2020. Just this week, it was confirmed all but “Duster” have been scrapped. The world’s last remaining Blockbuster Video saw a huge spike in sales thanks to their Super Bowl Sunday spot. The best part? They paid a fraction of the price that other advertisers did. A nationally broadcast ad during the Super Bowl will run you roughly $7 million in 2023. Clearly, the little video rental store that could didn’t have the budget for that. Producer/screenwriter Akiva Goldsman confirmed the long-awaited sequel to “I Am Legend” is finally happening! Will Smith will be reprising his role from the 2007 post-apocalyptic action thriller. Rachel Weisz (“Black Widow”) will play identical twins in Amazon Prime’s new mini-series “Dead Ringers.” The six-episode series will be based on David Cronenberg’s 1988 classic psychological thriller of the same name. The original film follows identical twin gynecologists Elliot and Beverly, both played by Jeremy Irons. The two own a successful practice that helps fuel an ever-worsening drug habit. They also have a habit of Elliot sleeping with patients until he loses interest only to hand them off to Beverly (the meeker of the two) since no one can tell them apart. Briana Middleton (“The Tender Bar”) is the first star to be cast in Apple TV+’s upcoming“Metropolis” series. Which comes to us courtesy of “Mr. Robot” creator Sam Esmail and UCP, where he has an overall deal. While Apple only greenlit the series in March 2022, it’s been in development for Esmail since at least 2016. “Metropolis” the series will be based on director Fritz Lang’s 1927 sci-fi classic, written by Thea Von Harbou. Comedians (and real life BFFs) Amy Poehler and Tina Fey recently announced their first live comedy tour. The Tina Fey & Amy Poehler: Restless Leg Tour will hit four U.S. cities this spring, with tickets going on sale this week. Nettie’s House of Spaghetti in Tinton Falls, New Jersey will no longer allow children under 10 in the dining room. When Nettie’s posted the statement, it left some cheering while others are sharpening their pitchforks. “We love kids. We really, truly, do,” Nettie’s says. Despite the instance that they love children, the restaurant claims it has simply become too challenging to accommodate them. RLJE Films and horror streaming service Shudder have blessed us with a trailer for their “Children of The Corn” remake. The Kurt Wimmer-directed killer kid film was shot during the early days of the pandemic in 2020. Workers at Medieval Times in Buena Park, California walked out before their second performance. This particular location’s cast voted to unionize in November of 2022, joining the American Guild of Variety Artists. On February 11th, almost half the workers in their bargaining unit walked out on the show. “We’ll be out picketing basically every day for the foreseeable future until we can make some kind of meaningful progress with the company,” says Erin Zapcic, lead organizer of Medieval Times Performers United, said.
