Filmmaker JJ Abrams’ company Bad Robot signed a deal with (at the time yet-to-be-launched) HBO Max in 2019. Three shows from this deal- “Overlook,” “Justice League Dark,” and “Duster”- were announced in 2020. Just this week, it was confirmed all but “Duster” have been scrapped. Little was known for sure about the “Justice League Dark” series, aside from speculation of the characters possibly portrayed in live-action (Zatanna, another John Constatine, etc.). “Overlook” was an offshoot of Stephen King’s “The Shining,” focusing mainly on the story of the Overlook Hotel. Bad Robot has shopped “Overlook” to other possible buyers. But there…

The world’s last remaining Blockbuster Video saw a huge spike in sales thanks to their Super Bowl Sunday spot. The best part? They paid a fraction of the price that other advertisers did. A nationally broadcast ad during the Super Bowl will run you roughly $7 million in 2023. Clearly, the little video rental store that could didn’t have the budget for that. So instead they teamed up with an NYC ad agency, that donated their time, to make an ad for social media. Then they dropped it on Instagram during the halftime show. The Bend, Oregon Blockbuster even embraced…
Producer/screenwriter Akiva Goldsman confirmed the long-awaited sequel to “I Am Legend” is finally happening! Will Smith will be reprising his role from the 2007 post-apocalyptic action thriller. But this time, the last man on earth will be joined by Michael B. Jordan, decades after the events of the first film. “This will start a few decades later than the first,” Goldsman said. “I’m obsessed with The Last of Us, where we see the world just post-apocalypse but also after a 20-30-year lapse. You see how the earth reclaims the world, and there’s something beautiful in the question of, as man…
Rachel Weisz (“Black Widow”) will play identical twins in Amazon Prime’s new mini-series “Dead Ringers.” The six-episode series will be based on David Cronenberg’s 1988 classic psychological thriller of the same name. The original film follows identical twin gynecologists Elliot and Beverly, both played by Jeremy Irons. The two own a successful practice that helps fuel an ever-worsening drug habit. They also have a habit of Elliot sleeping with patients until he loses interest only to hand them off to Beverly (the meeker of the two) since no one can tell them apart. Things begin to unravel when Beverly falls…
Briana Middleton (“The Tender Bar”) is the first star to be cast in Apple TV+’s upcoming“Metropolis” series. Which comes to us courtesy of “Mr. Robot” creator Sam Esmail and UCP, where he has an overall deal. While Apple only greenlit the series in March 2022, it’s been in development for Esmail since at least 2016. “Metropolis” the series will be based on director Fritz Lang’s 1927 sci-fi classic, written by Thea Von Harbou. Basing the script on Harbou’s 1925 novel of the same name. Both take place in the highly stylized futuristic city of Metropolis, where the wealthy elite enjoyed a…
If you can’t get enough of danger floofs on blow, have we got the game for you! To promote the upcoming horror comedy “Cocaine Bear,” we now have the 8-bit online video game titled “Cocaine Bear: the Rise of Pablo Escobear.” A name that is so punny and delightfully self-aware that it hurts. “Rise of Pablo Escobear” is based on classic arcade games like Pac-Man. In the game, players take control of the film’s cute but deadly protagonist, Cokey. The goal is to embark on a drug-addled rampage where you can chase down ambulances, eat a ton of people, and…

Nettie’s House of Spaghetti in Tinton Falls, New Jersey will no longer allow children under 10 in the dining room. When Nettie’s posted the statement, it left some cheering while others are sharpening their pitchforks. “We love kids. We really, truly, do,” Nettie’s says. Despite the instance that they love children, the restaurant claims it has simply become too challenging to accommodate them. They cite “noise levels, lack of space for high chairs, cleaning up crazy messes, and the liability of kids running around the restaurant,” as reasons for this decision. “It’s become a liability to us – kids running…

It will also be the first entry since 2018’s “Children of the…
