Why did the chicken cross the road? Well to get from Hinesburg, Vermont to downtown Burlington, of course! A Hinesburg family briefly lost their chicken, Amelia, when she unknowingly hitched a ride with them into town. Owner Rebecca Thibeault and her family believe Amelia climbed into a tiny compartment in the undercarriage of their Ford truck. She somehow stayed in there for the13-mile ride, sometimes going as fast as 65 mph along Interstate 89. Once the family arrived she apparently hopped off and made her way to the bustling Church Street Marketplace. While she was strutting her stuff and avoiding…

Oakland, California resident Kirsten Seymour has had 12 Blythe dolls, worth roughly $20,000, stolen from her home. Blythe dolls were put on the market in the U.S. in 1972 to compete with Mattel’s Barbie, except these dolls were inspired by the cartoon character Betty Boop and Margaret Keane’s “Big Eyes” paintings. The results give the dolls distinctive disproportionately large heads and huge glassy eyes. These features, while endearing to some, were deemed too disturbing for children and they were discontinued a year later. The Blythe dolls have exaggerated- and possibly unnerving- features have gained them a cult following among adults,…
Adult animated series “South Park” is turning 25 years old. In celebration, co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will be putting on a concert featuring performances by Primus and Ween. The concert itself is peppered with several in-jokes and references to the show’s own history. It’s being held in Colorado because Parker and Stone first met at the University of Colorado Boulder. This meeting eventually lead them to create a crude VHS Christmas card that was clearly a blueprint and early iteration of “South Park.” The concert is being hosted at Red Rocks because it is where a friend of…

Aldrin, printed above the mission patch. The coat is made from a (at the time) newly developed fireproof material known as Beta Cloth. Sotheby’s, who is hosting the auction, estimates the item could sell for as…
