Every spooky season General Mills rolls out its iconic line of monster themed cereals. This year the company announced it will be adding a new character for the first time in 35 years, named Carmella Creeper! Who knew Angry Birds was still a thing. Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Kids+ have announced a new animated series, “Angry Birds Mystery Island.” The series is created by Titmouse and Eric Rogers (“Futurama”) who will be acting as head writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Seasonal retail giant Spirit Halloween has an adorable line of horror baby static props. Singer/actress Rebbeca Marie Gomez, also known as Becky G, has officially joined the voice cast of Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming “Blue Beetle” movie. This project will be a family adventure film based on the DC Comics character. “Blue Beetle” will center around Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña), and his titular alter ego. Reyes is a recent college graduate who unexpectedly finds an ancient relic of alien biotechnology, known as the Scarab. Get ready for another version of “Law & Order,” this time in Canada! Rogers Media has confirmed Citytv has ordered “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” to series. The announcement was made a day before Rogers Media’s virtual upfront presentation on June 6th.  “Law & Order Toronto” will be created in a joint effort by the Vancouver-based Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc., in association with Citytv. The newest entry to the drug-fueled animal attack micro-genre will be “Crackcoon!” For those of you keeping score, this means we have a bear and shark on cocaine, a gator on meth, and now a raccoon…well we aren’t 100% sure yet. “Crackcoon” will revolve around the dealer of a new synthetically-altered street drug. Japan’s Studio Ghibli has confirmed they will not release a trailer for Hayao Miyazaki’s final film, “How Do You Live?” It will also not receive any promotional materials outside of a cryptic poster they put out in December 2022.  While this may seem like a ballsy move considering this is by far the most anticipated movie coming to Japanese theaters in years. The famous animation studio Pixar reportedly conducted a rare round of layoffs on May 23rd but reports about it did not surface until this weekend. A total of 75 positions were let go from the company. Among them were two of the executives behind the film “Lightyear,” a spin-off of Pixar’s popular “Toy Story” franchise. The film’s director Angus MacLane was apparently laid off, along with legendary producer Galyn Susman. Susman had been with the company since the release of the first “Toy Story” in 1995.
