The long-rumored layoffs at Pixar have come to fruition. The animation studio has let go of approximately 14% of its workforce, or around 175 employees. This is a serious hit for a company with only about 1,300 employees.  Pixar employees were given the heads-up about the pending layoffs in January. At that time, they were predicting almost 20% of the staff would need to be cut. So it looks like the company was able to strategize to save some jobs. It tells the real life story of Henry Hill and his life in the mafia, with his partners Jimmy Conway and Tommy DeVito. Earlier this month, Marvel Comics launched a new Dr. Doom one-shot “Doom,” marking the “Fantastic Four” supervillain’s first solo book since 2000. Writer Jonathan Hickman (“Ultimate Spider-Man”) and writer/illustrator/penciller Sanford Greene (“Bitter Root”) decided to use the first page to pay tribute to the late rapper MF DOOM.  “Doom” The tribute is a drawing of the Marvel Universe’s cosmic landscape. Daisy Ridley is currently promoting her upcoming film “Young Woman and the Sea,” where she plays Trudy Ederle, the first woman to swim the English Channel. In Japan, wedding traditions are broken up into three stages; shiki (ceremony), hiroen (reception), and nijikai (second party).  The hiroen is considered a more formal affair with family members and professional colleagues in attendance. But since reception halls normally only rent their spaces for a few hours, the nijikai takes the party to a second, less formal, setting for close friends and personal acquaintances.  The issue sometimes is the nijikai may not happen on the same day as the shiki and hiroen. YouTube series “Hot Ones,” hosted by Sean Evans, has guests eat increasingly spicy wings during an interview.
