Sony Pictures’ upcoming remake of 70s sci-fi shlock staple “Barbarella” may be getting a pretty perfect director. Actress Sydney Sweeney (“Euphoria,” “The White Lotus”) will star, and is also serving as executive producer. But the news today is a possible director and writer attached to the project. Edgar Wright is reportedly circling the film. He would be wonderfully suited for this kind of project given his previous work. The epic poem, “Beowulf” is one of those pieces of storytelling that is as revered as the ancient Greek myths. Dating back to at least 1000 AD, it tells the tale of the heroic titular warrior and his battle against the evil beast, Grendel. One of the biggest news items in Hollywood over the last week has surrounded the massive media company, Paramount. It’s the second oldest film studio in the United States. And because of its mergers with CBS and Viacom, is also a part of the sprawling media company, Paramount Global. For millions of people across the world, the late, great Kevin Conroy is the definitive Batman. His vocal performance of the Caped Crusader in “Batman: The Animated Series,” the Batman: Arkham video game series, and various other projects over 30 years left little room for others to improve on. When Conroy passed away in November of 2022, it was an excruciating and devastating loss to fans.
