The marketing machine for fast food companies is a sometimes marvelous thing. We thought KFC peaked in 2019 when they released their dating sim game, “I Love You, Colonel Sanders.” Who wouldn’t want to play a visual novel type adventure where you get to interact with a hunkified version of the restaurant founder? How can it get any better than this? Well, here we are in 2024 and it turns out it CAN get better, in the form of a KFC virtual pet. Do you remember virtual pets? They were a thing for a while, namely the Tamagotchi. It was…

The “Harry Potter” franchise remains one of the biggest media empires in the world. Sure its been a while since the mainline books and films wrapped up, but the franchise has continued through games, merchandise, and an upcoming HBO series. The show is eyeing a 2027 release window, and is currently in the casting phase. Nothing official has been announced yet, but sources are indicating that the adaptation may have found its Severus Snape. Paapa Essiedu is a British actor who may be most known for his appearances in “I May Destroy You” and “The Lazarus Project.” He’s also a…
HBO is home to a number of hit programs, many of them trying to fill the void left by “Game of Thrones,” which they’re doing admirably with “Dune: Prophecy.” The premium cabler has seen awards and ratings success with more recent shows like “The White Lotus” and “Euphoria.” Both of which have been on the bleachers with their new seasons forthcoming. Thanks to a media conference we have a bit more info about when those shows will be returning, in addition to other upcoming HBO properties. Stating with “Euphoria,” the Emmy winning show wrapped its second season almost three years…
From Princess Peach to Furiosa, Anya Taylor-Joy has had some major film roles over the last few years. It was “The Queen’s Gambit” in 2020 that really put her in the spotlight. The Netflix limited series was a critical success, netting Taylor-Joy a Golden Globe and an Emmy nomination. It’s been a few years since she dipped her toes into another series with “Peaky Blinders,” but she’ll be doing so with Apple TV+ and “Lucky.” The show is based on a novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley. It tells the story of a young woman with a dark,…
When you’re marketing toys to kids, it’s important to make sure that you put the right corresponding website on the packaging. This is a lesson that Mattel learned the hard way a few weeks ago. In conjunction with the “Wicked” film adaptation hitting theaters, a line of dolls was marketed that advised consumers to visit Wicked.com as the official website of the movie. Fun fact, that’s not the website for the film; it’s instead an adult film website. Mattel has tried to correct this issue by removing the dolls from store shelves but it hasn’t stopped them from being slapped…
In some ways it’s hard to believe that the song “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” has existed for four decades. Boomtown Rats’ frontman Bob Geldof KBE (Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) created the Band Aid project, which aimed to help provide relief in Ethiopia after a monumental famine and drought. They managed to combine the forces of many of the biggest names in 1984 pop music including Sting, George Michael, Duran Duran, Phil Collins, Spandau Ballet, U2’s Bono, and more. (And yes, Geldof is also who created Live Aid, which took place the following…
Amazon’s upcoming Prime Video series “Secret Level” promises a unique anthology with each episode focusing on a different video game world. “Armored Core,” “Sifu,” various PlayStation franchises all in one, and “The Outer Worlds” are just some of the franchises getting episodes. Also on that list is one of the older franchises in gaming, “Mega Man.” Being all of twenty seconds long, we don’t get to see a lot of Mega Man, but we do get to see some of where the episode is going with the characterization and backstory. The only dialogue we get is from Mega Man’s creator,…
Back in 2008, director Danny Boyle took home in Oscar for Best Director for “Slumdog Millionaire.” The movie actually cleaned house at the Academy Awards, nabbing Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Song, and Best Picture, amongst others. It arguably hasn’t aged as well as other winners for Best Pictures in that its seldom talked about, but it’s also arguably a much better picture than “Green Book” or “Crash.” So with its place in Oscar history firmly planted somewhere in the middle, and its strong box office success back in the day, sounds like it’s time for a sequel! If you…
It’s a sad day in the world of comedy. There are some films that are so influential that they changed the course of how comedies are perceived. “Airplane!” was one of those films. By combining deadpan delivery, constant visual gags, and a supreme sense of parody and satire, the film became a beloved staple in popular culture. We’re sad to report that Jim Abrahams, one of the creative forces behind that film and others, has passed away. Jim Abrahams was the letter A in the writing and production team commonly referred to as “ZAZ.” The Z’s were his friends, brothers…
Across numerous iterations, most recently a successful run on Netflix, the “Voltron” franchise has continued to etch itself deeper into pop culture across several generations. We’re happy to report the project is coming together even stronger, in a way that is going to make this upcoming live-action feature film a reality. Amazon is handling the film through its MGM leg. Rawson Marshall Thurber (“Red Notice,” “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story”) will direct. Henry Cavill will star. Just like the Voltron team filling out its roster of pilots, we now know Rita Ora, Oscar nominee Sterling K. Brown, and John Kim…
