Very early this morning, The Pokémon Company held a short livestream with new information on “Pokémon Sword” and “Pokémon Shield.” Specifically, we saw more details on exactly what to expect from the second DLC expansion “Crown Tundra.”

    The Pokémon Company & Nintendo

Pokémon Company president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara kicked off the presentation with a trailer for the new expansion. In it we see that the Crown Tundra is a snowy landscape filled with new and familiar Pokémon. For this expansion, an explorer named Peony puts us in charge as his expedition chief. Expeditions will task you with exploring pokémon dens to go on “Dynamax Adventures.” Raid dens will each contain a series of dynamax battles, often revealing rare legendaries deep inside. You can team up with up to three other players to challenge and defeat these powerful opponents. Every legendary that has appeared in a mainline title is available in this DLC.

Once you’ve explored every nook and cranny of the Crown Tundra’s caves, get ready to participate in the Galarain Star Tournament! Here you can select a partner from trainers you have met during your Galarain adventure. Whether you favor one of the gym leaders or one of your rivals, you get to decide who is by your side for these intense pokemon battles. It’s a true test of your skill as you take on the strongest trainers from across the land to rise to the number one spot. The “Crown Tundra” DLC expansion launches on October 22. Additionally, on November 6 all-in-one versions of Pokémon Sword and Shield will be hitting store shelves. These new versions contain the game and all of its DLC expansions.

Of course, it’s not a celebration without Pikachu involved. In the coming days, you will be able to obtain Ash’s Pikachu wearing eight different hats. Each unique Pikachu requires a special password to obtain. You can get your hands on the original cap Pikachu right now with the code “P1KACHUGET.”

Additionally, The Pokémon Company has formally announced that “Pokémon GO” and “Pokémon Home” will soon be linked. This means you will be able to transfer your Pokémon from “Pokémon GO” into your adventure in Sword or Shield. By transferring a pokémon from GO into Home, you will get a special mystery box containing Meltan in “Pokémon GO.” You will also receive a special Melmetal in “Pokémon Home” capable of gigantamaxing.

The presentation closed with a special music video by Bump of Chicken. You can watch the entire presentation below.
