Last year, Zach Cregger wrote and directed the Oscar-winning horror film Weapons. It’s just been confirmed that Zach Shields (Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire) will be joining him in co-writing the upcoming prequel film. The current working title is Gladys, named for the character played in the first film by Amy Madigan.

Weapons tells the story of a town where all but one child from the same classroom goes missing at the same time. Lone student, Alex (Cary Christopher), deals with the fallout while supposedly in the care of his mysterious aunt, Gladys.
Madigan won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for the character. Fans seemed just as intrigued by her as critics. So we cannot wait to see what they have cooked up for her backstory.
This early into production, New Line and Warner Bros. have not set a release window for Gladys yet. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as Shields and Cregger’s script develops.
