Nearly 30 years after Practical Magic debuted, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman proved fans never stopped believing in its magic. Over the weekend, the pair surprised moviegoers during a special screening of the 1998 cult classic at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. The appearance celebrated the upcoming release of Practical Magic 2 and immediately sparked excitement across social media.
Bullock and Kidman walked onstage hand in hand before greeting the crowd. Bullock thanked fans for keeping the movie alive through the years. She joked that a cemetery felt like the perfect place to watch Practical Magic. You know, because of the makeshift cemetery they tried to make their yard into in the first film?
Kidman called the evening a family reunion. She shared her excitement about returning to the beloved world of the Owens sisters. The event also introduced the next generation of magical characters. Joey King and Maisie Williams joined the actresses onstage ahead of their roles in the sequel. King and Williams play Sally Owens’ daughters. Their characters will help continue the family’s story while facing a new magical threat.

For many fans, the reunion felt like a long-awaited celebration. The original movie struggled at the box office in 1998, but it slowly became a Halloween favorite through television, home video, and streaming. And since it’s coming out September which is when the air gets crispy and Halloween season starts (for some, Halloween decorations in my house go up in August) the sequel should do way better than the original.
