Temple Hill Confirms “Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives” is a go

Temple Hill Entertainment has confirmed that Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives, is a go! Like the first film it’s based on Adam Cesare’s novel of the same name. Hudson Morgan and Will Lowell are already attached to write the script.

The film, like the second book in the series, will see final girl Quinn Maybrook in college. This character was played by Katie Douglas (Ginny & Georgia), but there is no word on if she’ll reprise her role. It’s also unknown if Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) will return to direct, or if someone else will take over.

During an interview on The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs, both Craig and Cesare spoke about how they had to depoliticize the first book. With a major sticking point being the mayor’s slogan, “Make Kattle Springs Great Again.”

Without getting too deep into spoilers, the second book is a clear satire on conspiracy theories and internet culture. Several deepfakes and rumors manifest into something that looks a lot like the January 6th insurrection, just with much more bloodshed and irony. We aren’t sure if this means the movie’s plot will have to drastically change, or if the studio will allow the film to be as political as the book this time. We really do hope it’s the latter option, since the novel has one of the funniest deaths we’ve ever read.

At this time, there is no set release window for Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as it develops.

Ceasare will release the 4th novel in his Clown in a Cornfield series, Lights! Camera! Frendo! on August 18th. Preorder your copy here.
