Are you ready to head back to Gilead? “The Handmaid’s Tale” sequel series “The Testaments” is set to debut on Hulu in early April 2026. The show will pick up after the events of the original series, with star Ann Dowd returning as Aunt Lydia.

“The Testaments” is based on Margaret Atwood’s coming-of-age novel of the same name. It will center around Agnes/Hannah (Chase Infiniti) daughter of June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss). Agnes is both dutiful and pious and soon meets Daisy, a new arrival and convert from beyond Gilead’s borders. As the pair navigate the gilded halls of Aunt Lydia’s elite preparatory school for future wives, a place where obedience is instilled brutally and with divine justification, their bond becomes the catalyst that will upend their past, their present, and their future.
Lucy Halliday, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, and Birva Pandya star alongside Dowd and Infiniti. There is still no confirmation on whether Moss will return for the follow-up series, though she is coming back as an executive producer.
Warren Littlefield, Steve Stark, Shana Stein, Maya Goldsmith, John Weber, Sheila Hockin, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, and Mike Barker also executive produce on the upcoming show. Barker will direct the first 3 episodes.
“The Testaments” hits Hulu April 8th, 2026. It will premiere with three episodes, followed by a weekly release.
