During a panel at Fan Expo Boston Ewan McGregor made some comments that have been taken wildly out of context. In response to a particular question he commented about how his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, was shooting “Ahsoka” season 2. These remarks turned into headlines saying that McGregor would be appearing in the second season of the hit Disney+ show.
While McGregor is no stranger to the “Star Wars” universe, playing franchise mainstay Obi-Wan Kenobi in another Disney + series. There is ZERO indication at this time that he will reprise his role or take on a new one in the upcoming season of “Ahsoka.”

What Did McGregor Say?
During the panel the actor was asked if he was a fan of “Star Wars” to which he responded with a “Yes.” This question was followed up by asking; “What is your favorite installment that you’re not a part of?” (emphasis added)
“Well, I like watching my wife, you know, so I really enjoyed Ahsoka,” McGregor “I thought that was brilliantly done. It’s so funny, like, you know, she’s shooting the second season now, and I know. Is that a secret?”
After he was assured that those beans were spilled back in April, he continued to talk about his favorite “Star Wars” installment that he is NOT a part of.
“Well, she is anyway,” he said about Winstead who plays Hera Syndulla on “Ahsoka.” “And so I just finished doing a play. So I’m at home with our son, who’s four, and I take him to school and everything. And then I’m, you know, bumbling around the house, and I’d fetch a FaceTime. I forget that she’s going to be green, you know. She pops up, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, oh yes.’ You know, often she’s in her trailer without all the head stuff on, but she’s just green, you know. She’s a very beautiful green lady, so. I love that.”
That’s it, missing that McGregor was responding to a question about his favorite “Star Wars” installment that he is NOT a part of lead to a whole rack of misinformation. And given his existing role as Obi-Wan Kenobi this accidentally fictitious news created some huge potential implications for the overall universe.
Season 2 of “Ahsoka” does not currently have a set release date. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the series as it develops.
