BioWare Says “Mass Effect 5” Being Developed by Franchise Veterans

The “Mass Effect” series, specifically the original trilogy, is considered one of the best sci-fi game franchises ever made. When the first game released in 2007, no one was prepared for how immersive and in depth the worldbuilding would be. The story, set in a future where humanity has made contact with aliens due to a severe technological advancement, kept players captivated.

With rumors of a 5th game being developed, fans have been skeptical about how it might turn out.

BioWare, the studio behind “Mass Effect,” has confirmed that trilogy veterans are returning to develop the next installment. Michael Gamble, who has been on the “Mass Effect” team since 2010, confirmed that he will be joined with three other trilogy veterans. Gamble took to X to clear up some fan skepticism about who would be working on the game. He will be working as executive producer, whereas the creative, art, and game directors will also be trilogy veterans. No names were specified, but we will take the executive producer’s word on this one.

The skepticism around the team working on the new game is warranted to a degree. Many fans of the series refuse to acknowledge the fourth game, which was received poorly. Currently the fifth game is still in pre-production. BioWare is currently focused on “Dragon Age: Dreadwolf,” so it may be a while before more news is released.

Personally, I am beyond excited for the prospect of a new “Mass Effect” game. Especially when four members of the original trilogy team are working on it. “Mass Effect” is just one of those game series you can spend hours, or in my case days, playing and not get bored.

We will follow this story and report once more information becomes available.
