Legendary director John Woo’s newest film, “Silent Night,” has received a release date for this year! The movie is an acquisition by Lionsgate and will be Woo’s first American theatrical film since 2003’s “Paycheck,” starring Ben Affleck and Aaron Eckhart.

Making this Woo’s first American film in 20 years!

The new movie is a gritty revenge tale that follows a tormented father (Joel Kinnaman). Who is grappling with witnessing his young son die when caught in a gang’s crossfire on Christmas Eve. While recovering from a wound that costs him his voice, the father makes vengeance his life’s mission and embarks on a punishing training regimen in order to avenge his son’s death.

Given the main character’s injury, “Silent Night” will have no dialogue. [We see what you did there]. The film also stars Scott Mescudi, Harold Torres, and Catalina Sandino Moreno. Woo will be directing from a script penned by Robert Archer Lynn.

Producers for the film include Woo, Christian Mercuri, Lori Tilkin deFelice, Basil Iwanyk, and Erica Lee. As well as the companies Thunder Road Films, Capstone Studios, and A Better Tomorrow Films.

The post-Black Friday release date will have “Silent Night” going up against 20th Century Studios and Disney’s Jeff Nichols-directed “The Bikeriders.”  Along with the Emerald Fennell-written and directed “Saltburn” from MGM.

“Silent Night” will hit theaters December 1st. We’ll keep you posted on updates this and other news.
