Netflix Reality Series “Squid Game: The Challenge” Gets Teaser

“Squid Game: The Challenge” is finally coming after several setbacks. The reality series based on the most-watched Netflix show has a $4.56 million prize. 456 contestants will be competing in a range of games inspired by the hit Korean show.

Contestants will compete in games from the show with “surprising new additions,” as dozens will be eliminated per game. This $4.56 million prize is considered the highest for a competition format. The new reality series is produced by U.K. indie studios Studio Lambert and The Garden.

About those setbacks during filming…a cold snap in Britain created complications that resulted in three of the 456 players requiring medical attention. Netflix confirmed this took place while filming the “Red Light, Green Light” game. A spokeswoman said that “all appropriate safety precautions” were taken. Britain’s Health and Safety executive reminded producers to plan properly for risk, but decided no further action was needed.

The series is executively produced by Nicola Brown, Tim Harcourt, John Hay, Toni Ireland, Anna Kidd, Stephen Lambert, Louise Peer, Nia Yemoh and Stephen Yemoh. This team is comprised of members from both Studio Lambert and The Garden.

We’re a little jealous of these 456 contestants. Seriously, who didn’t think about playing in “Squid Game” when it came out? The $4.56 million prize is definitely tempting enough to don a green jumpsuit and play games. Plus with this being a reality series, the results won’t be exactly like the show when a contestant is….eliminated.

“Squid Game: The Challenge” hits Netflix November 22nd, 2023. Check out the teaser now!
