Taco Bell is Offering Vegan Options as Part of “New Year’s Commitments”

Taco Bell is ready to start offering more than just salsa for their vegan menu options in order to fulfill their “New Year’s Commitments”.

Currently the chain offers about 28 customizable options for vegan friendly meals but they are going to offer a complete vegan only menu sometime later this year. Vegnews states that the company will be updating them on exactly what that is going to mean later this year.

The chain will start testing out the new menu options by adding a vegetarian menu board at some locations. They already offer options for their “make it meatless” initiative, but many people don’t know that exists. They will offer different options for time-limited periods in order to test out the menu and see what people gravitate toward. Tacos, Crunchwraps, Tostadas, and Vegan Burritos will be part of the highlighted options for the menu.

Taco Bell’s Manager of Global Nutrition & Sustainability Missy Schaaphok stated that, “We’re always looking for ways to give our customers more choice when they eat at Taco Bell. We know that Americans are increasingly opting for vegan, vegetarian, and flexitarian meals, and we pride ourselves on being able to accommodate a wide variety of diets and lifestyles.”

So what does this mean for fast food goers? Well considering they offer cheap food for the masses this means that eating Vegan while being out could possibly be easier than ever and hopefully more affordable than a $7 dollar salad at McDonald’s where you would still have to ask them to pick off the chicken. It could change the way that fast food restaurants present their menu options to customers in the future. Whatever happens with this it is far better than when they were going to have restaurants with an all microwavable option. I mean.. yuck.
