Little Caesars Shifts Pineapple from Pizza to Pepsi

Some debates will wage on through public discourse despite how silly they may be. Is “Die Hard” a Christmas movie? Marvel or DC? And of course, does pineapple belong on pizza? The answers of course are yes, yes, and yes. But no matter your answer, the fact that the latter of these topics is under continual debate can prove to be a bit of a selling point for the pizza industry in more ways that one. Little Caesars offers pineapple on pizza, but they’re about to do the tropical fruit one better by including it in Pepsi again.

On July 17th, Pepsi will be reintroducing Pepsi Pineapple, exclusively at Little Caesars locations across America. The pizza chain normally carries Pepsi products to go along with your pie. This will be the first time in three years this distinct flavor will be available for consumers. If you want to sample the soda, you can get it in a 16oz can as part of the pair-up combo with a large, two topping thin crust pizza. The deal will run you $9.99.

Pineapple soda is not that novel a concept. Coca-Cola offers a pineapple Fanta, which is basically the equivalent of orange soda, but with pineapple. Both Coke and Pepsi have previously sold beverages flavored with lime and lemon, not to mention Pepsi’s Wild Cherry. The point is, fruit flavors in soda have a long history of being successful, but it is cool to see a novel approach to pizza and pineapple being taken by Pepsi.

There is a little bit of a catch. If you want to score this deal, you can only order it through the app or website. So if you haven’t already downloaded the Little Caesars app and have a hankering for some pineapple, you should do that. Throw away any preconceptions you have that pineapple doesn’t go on pizza. Remember that tomatoes are a fruit, and form the basis of pizza sauce. So let’s not pretend that fruit doesn’t go on pizza anyway.
