Bill Skarsgård-Led “The Crow” Reboot Now in Post Production

After recently launching at Cannes Film Festival, Ashland Hill Media Finance is already making huge moves. This team of investors has just agreed to co-finance Rupert Sanders’ reboot of “The Crow.” It will star Bill Skarsgård, FKA Twigs, and Danny Houston, and recently went into post-production.

“The Crow” is based on the James O’Barr graphic novel of the same name. It tells the story of a man who is brutally murdered, but comes back to life to avenge his and his fiancée’s murder. The first film adaptation happened in 1994, and became a cult favorite among multiple subcultures. But it will probably always be best known for the tragic on-set death of star Brandon Lee.

The latest adaptation of “The Crow” is written by Oscar nominee Zach Baylin (“King Richard”). CAA Media Finance will represent domestically while FilmNation is representing internationally. Co-financers Ashland Hill Media Finance is made up of producers Joe Simpson, Simon Williams, and Jonathan Bross. They specialize in debt, gap, and bridge financing and aim to finance at least 25 films per year. The group is based in LA and London.

Ashland Hill Media has had a hand in financing Philip Noyce’s action thriller “Fast Charlie” which starred Pierce Brosnan, Morena Baccarin, and James Caan. The Marcus Adams’ shark thriller, “Deep Fear,” whose cast included Mãdãlina Ghenea and Ed Westwick. And Rusty Cundieff’s tech thriller “57 Seconds” starring Josh Hutcherson and Morgan Freeman. They are also currently financing Louis Mandylor’s “3 Days in Malay,” Brandon Slagle’s “The Flood,” and Neil Marshall’s “Duchess.”

“It has been a fantastic year and we are excited about the future. We have been part of some amazing films, outstanding people have joined our team and we look forward to building on our success,” Simpson said. With Bross adding “We are executing at a high level and look forward to making great content with great people.”

Stay tuned to Nerdbot for more updates on “The Crow” reboot as they become available.
