Themeborne, makers of “Escape the Dark Castle,” are bringing Naughty Dog’s “The Last of Us” to tabletop. Fans of the franchise can try to survive the cordyceps infection in a whole new way. Titled “The Last of Us: Escape the Dark,” a Kickstarter will launch on November 8th. Known for successful crowdfunding, Themeborne includes an exclusive collector’s edition you won’t want to miss. With “The Last of Us” gaining traction outside of gaming with a tv series coming to HBO, a tabletop game seems a logical next step.

We’re excited to announce The Last of Us: Escape the Dark, a new board game experience set within The Last of Us universe, created by our friends @Themeborne! The Kickstarter goes live Nov 8, so stay tuned for more soon.

Known for “Escape the Dark Castle” and “Escape the Dark Sector,” Themeborne has gained significant popularity. Enough that they’ve consistently released collector’s boxes and expansions to their existing games. Alongside unique style of stark, black and white illustrations is accessible gameplay that makes for a fantastic tabletop experience. By randomly shuffling a series of chapter cards, no two paths are the same. We can’t think that “The Last of Us: Escape the Dark” won’t employ a similar style of play.

Knowing Themeborne’s creative style of procedural play, we’re sure that this will be a fascinating take on the adventures of Joel and Ellie. And with what looks to be a streamlined combat system and a massive amount of chapter dice, we’re excited to see just how many scenarios will be available to the survival duo. How many ways can something go wrong? And how thrilling will it be with something goes right?

With this in mind, we hope the possibilities for “The Last of Us: Escape the Dark” play are as branching as Themeborne’s current titles. If it’s anything like “Escape the Dark Castle,” it’ll make for a truly unique and fantastic experience. We can’t wait for this one to release.
