Adidas Releases New Yu-Gi-Oh! Inspired Collection

Adidas is releasing a new line of shoes based on the popular manga, anime, and card game Yu-Gi-Oh!. The line of men’s shoes consists of 4 styles in total, 2 types of slides, and 2 types of sneakers. All of the footwear is heavily influenced by the fashions of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Which is when Yu-Gi-Oh!’s popularity really took off in the United States. All of the graphics are based on the work of creator Kazuki Takahashi, who tragically passed away in July of this year.

The 2 styles of slides are both in a reptossage hook-and-loop, which is an obscure silhouette that was originally introduced by Adidas in 1999. Both feature eye-catching thermoplastic rubber (TPR) footbed, an EVA outsole, and a Velcro closure.

One pair features Seto Kaiba on one strap and Blue Eyes White Dragon on the other. This “Blue Eyes” style has a “hazy sky” colored sole and black core for the rest of the shoe. The other pair features Yami Yugi on one strap and Dark Magician on the other. While the “Dark Magician”  pair also have a black core its sole comes in “pulse lilac.” Both styles of slides retail for $70.

The 2 styles of sneakers are an ADI2000 Adidas silhouette which, while new, are based on the bulky skate shoes that dominated early 2000s fashion. Both pairs feature a lace closure, mesh upper with suede and leather details, textile lining, and a rubber outsole.

One style of sneaker has a Millenium Puzzle graphic and features the Dark Magician on the side. It comes in cloud white with a purple tint sole. The other pair also comes in cloud white but with a blue tint sole. It features a Kaiba Corp logo and Blue Eyes White Dragon on the side. Both pairs of sneakers retail for $120.
