Keanu Reeves to Go Way Above 50mph, May Host Formula 1 Docuseries

Keanu Reeves will be part of something way faster than 50mph, as it looks like he’ll be hosting a new docuseries focusing on Formula 1. The series, which is currently sans title, is going to focus on Formula 1 managing director Ross Brawn. While it’s yet to be confirmed, it looks like the series might land at Disney+.

Netflix has their own series, “Formula 1: Drive to Survive,” which focuses on drivers, managers, and team owners. It certainly helped open up the already massive sport to a new audience. Now it looks like Reeves wishes to continue that momentum. Brad Pitt, John Krasinski, and Jerry Bruckheimer are also doing a Formula 1 film for Apple, they’re partnering with legendary current F1 racer Sir Lewis Hamilton. Other racing projects are also in the works.

As for the reported other star of the series, Brawn is likely best known for his time as the team principal of Honda. He eventually acquired that team and formed Brawn GP in 2009. They went on to win the Formula One Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championship that same year. It seems Reeves wants to focus on that era. There were a bevy of changes to teams and the sport during that era.

Reeves has been spotted at many a race before. Most recently he was sighted at the British Grand Prix (which in and of itself was an exciting race). Carlos Sainz of Ferrari claimed his first Formula 1 win. There was also a very scary crash involving Zhou Guanyu doing a barrel-roll. Thankfully the driver seems like he’ll be okay but it was a good example of how ridiculously dangerous the sport can actually be. Cars are flying around at ~360kmph or 223.6 mph.

We can see how Reeves, who is well documented with his love of fast motorcycles, could easily be swept into the world of F1 racing. That paired with Brawn’s victorious year would certainly make for a docuseries we’d watch.
