“Resident Alien,” “SurrealEstate,” “Chucky” Returning to SYFY

In honor of their 30th anniversary, SYFY has announced several new and returning original programs. Both “Chucky” and “Resident Alien” will return with new episodes later this year. “SurrealEstate” will be back for its second season in 2023.

Their new programming includes the shows “Reginald the Vampire” and “The Ark.” Along with the original movie “Bring It On: Cheer or Die.”

“Reginald the Vampire” is a show based off the Johnny B. Truant “Fat Vampire” book series. Its plot is described as “a world populated by beautiful, fit and vain vampires, Reginald tumbles into it as an unlikely hero who will navigate every kind of obstacle and discovers he has a few unrecognized powers of his own.”

It will star Jacob Batalon (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”) as Reginald Andres. It will also star Mandela Van Peebles (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina “) and Em Haine (“Jigsaw”). And so far seems to be set for a 10 episode run.

“The Ark” was developed by Dean Devlin, co-writer of classics like “Stargate” and “Independence Day.” The show takes place 100 years in the future onboard a space-faring vessel. A vessel that carries humanity’s last hope of survival. Unfortunately a catastrophic incident occurs causing hundreds of casualties. Now the survivors have to band together to complete the mission to another planet.

“The Ark” is currently filming in Serbia. It will star Christie Burke (“Maid”), Richard Fleeshman (“Deep Heat”), Reece Ritchie (“The Lovely Bones”), Stacey Read (“Aneni”), Ryan Adams (“Asking Price”), Christina Wolfe (“Batwoman”), Shalini Peiris (Zack Snyder’s “Justice League”), Miles Barrow (“The Peripheral”), Pavle Jerinić (“The Outpost”), Tiana Upcheva (“The Outpost”), and Lisa Brenner (“The Patriot”).

“Bring It On: Cheer or Die” will be a continuation to the popular cheerleading franchise. It will be about a cheer squad practicing in an abandoned school on Halloween. They, shockingly, begin to get picked off one by one by an unknown killer.

This will premier in October and will star Tiera Skovbye (“Riverdale”). As well as Missi Pyle (“Ma”) and Kerri Medders (“Promised Land”). The screenplay was written by Rebekah McKendry (“All the Creatures Were Stirring”) and Dana Schwartz (“Noble Blood” podcast) based off of a screen story by Alyson Fouse (“Bring It On: Fight to the Finish”).
