Comedian Carrot Top Hospitalized After Suicide Attempt

We’d like to start by stating something serious. If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis or may try to harm themselves, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

    Carrot Top’s Friday Evening Trauma

Fairly late in the evening of September 18th, 2026, comedian Carrot Top was taken to the hospital after attempting to take his own life. Details are scarce at the moment. He was set to perform at the Luxor. That show has obviously been cancelled.

Carrot Top’s real name is Scott Thompson. He’s well known for being one of the legends of prop comedy. Say what you will about prop comics, he ranks among the best in that field. Even if you don’t find him funny, you know of him and can immediately imagine his appearance. That fiery red hair is more than just something that led to his nick name. It’s an iconic look.

Reports indicate he is presently where he needs to be and is getting medical attention. His representative, Jami Schlicher stated, “Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.”

    Concerning Reports of Legal Issues

In attempting to research further information about what Carrot Top has been doing lately, we kept coming across articles from RadarOnline. They report themselves to be a celebrity news and gossip site. They’ve had several reports lately, exclusive to them, detailing a legal battle Carrot Top is allegedly engaged in. It’s a civil lawsuit to the tune of potentially $7.5 million. Elements of it seem to tie deeply into private allegations of sexual exploitation. Obviously we can’t say that this is the reason that Thompson attempted to take his own life. We can say that stress of any kind can push people to do things that can lead to self-harm. It doesn’t matter who you are.

When pieces of news like this break, we try to report about them to highlight the importance of mental health. We will never cast judgment on someone for their mental health struggles. There was a lot of online contempt for Perez Hilton before and after his own suicide attempt. We maintain that regardless of his past as a gossip mongering journalist, his mental health challenges and self-harm should be treated with sympathy. Suicide and self-harm are massive problems that need to be addressed with compassion and understanding.

Suicide is Never the Right Answer

We hope that Carrot Top, Scott Thompson, is getting the help that he needs right now. Whether he’s battling some demons we don’t know about, if the alleged legal struggle is haunting him, or some other stressor is impacting him, suicide is always a permanent answer to a temporary problem. And that’s not the way you should treat any such issue.

Again, if you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis or may try to harm themselves, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
