Look, we are all sad “Stranger Things” is over, but let’s try to process our grief in constructive ways. A group of misguided….fans…launched a website and internet hoax claiming a secret “second finale” was hitting Netflix at midnight on January 7th.
The delusional fan theory went viral on social media under the #conformitygate.
There is no secret finale, guys.

Series creators the Duffer Brothers are notoriously secretive about plot points, a fact that fans loved and hated, but even they wouldn’t troll the audience this hard. Because outside of a website countdown clock done with a “Stranger Things” style font, there is zero evidence for this.
Netflix has responded in a not-so-subtle way. The companyhas changed several social media bios to read: “ALL EPISODES OF STRANGER THINGS ARE NOW PLAYING.”
It’s assumed this change is in response to the rumor, because why would an announcement like that be made a week after the final episode aired?
Even the greatest mascot of our time Gritty got in on the act. They threatened the show’s writers to respond while standing in front of a very serious evidence board. As we all know, Gritty is not one to be crossed.
Attempts to determine who created the website have yielded no results. It was only created one day before the alleged air date; that fact alone is a huge red flag. A stunt like this would have taken years of planning, and you’re telling us they just secured the domain name yesterday? While also having zero leaks out of the cast, crew, and Netflix?
Despite how good the show was at keeping everything secret, there were still plenty of leaks. Sitting on something this big for this long with no rumors up until yesterday isn’t impossible, but it’s highly improbable.
ALL episodes of “Stranger Things” are currently streaming on Netflix. You can check out the website here, but given that it’s connected to a hoax, we’d advise browsing with caution.
