Marvel’s “Black Panther” stars Danai Gurira and Michael B. Jordan are teaming up again! Gurira will officially star opposite Jordan in his reimagining of “The Thomas Crown Affair.”

Michael B. Jordan “Sinners” Warner Bros

The original 1968 film tells the story of a bank executive (Steve McQueen) who believes he has pulled off the perfect multi-million-dollar heist. That is, until an insurance investigator (Faye Dunaway) catches on to him. It was remade once before in 1999, starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.

This version will see Jordan not only starring, but directing and producing under his Outlier Society banner. Gurira is joining previously announced Academy Award winner Kenneth Branagh, Academy Award nominee Lily Gladstone, and Taylor Russell.

Reportedly, “The Thomas Crown Affair” will be set in Europe, backed up by production starting in London, but keeps similar themes to the original. Focusing on a billionaire art lover with sticky fingers (Jordan). Who has to contend with a suave private detective (Russell) hot on his trail.

Drew Pearce wrote the script after a previous draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, based on the 1968 film.

Elizabeth Raposo will produce for Outlier Society with Charles Roven of Atlas Entertainment. Alongside Marc Toberoff of Toberoff Productions and Patrick McCormick. Alan Trustman, who penned the original film, will executive produce.

“The Thomas Crown Affair” is currently slated to hit theaters via Amazon MGM on March 5, 2027. We’ll keep you posted on updates as the project develops.
