If we were to try and sum up the entire history of Fyre Festival, even the TL;DR would be too long. At this point in time, we all knew the second event was never going to happen and sure enough, it didn’t. It was supposed to run from May 30th to June 2nd of 2025. But after two different announced locations confirmed they never heard of the event being scheduled to take place, the jig was finally up, and on April 16th, it was announced that tickets were being refunded. And yet, somehow, the event wasn’t listed as cancelled! Depending on your definition of cancelled, we guess that’s accurate, but now it’s turned into a weeklong hotel pop-up!

On June 2nd, the last day of the festival that never happened, reports started surfacing that Fyre had taken on a new form in the shape of a hotel getaway. Convicted felon and Fyre founder Billy McFarland has continued to try and push the brand forward in any possible way he can. McFarland turned Fyre into an IP that was licensed by Shawn Rech to become a music streaming service.
Now it’s also being licensed by the Coral View Beach Resort in Utila off the coast of Honduras.
From September 3rd to September 10th, the FYRE Resort Pop-Up will allegedly be taking place and promises guests a bunch of stuff that may or may not happen. According to the official website, there will be snorkeling, pickleball, guided hikes, boat tours, deep sea fishing; some of which is part of the stay, other parts are add ons. Apparently pickleball is one of the latter. The website also takes pains to note that this is NOT Fyre Festival 2, instead, “It’s FYRE returning to its roots – the spark that started it all – before things got out of control. We’re continuing festival discussions with new groups, but for now, we are focused and excited about the FYRE Coral View Pop-Up from September 3-10. This will make history in its own way.” Which is exactly the kind of grandiose crap that one probably should expect from anything MacFarland is attached to.

We’ve said it numerous times and we’ll say it again if not just to give someone the benefit of the doubt; we’re not saying Fyre Resort Pop-Up is also a scam. Maybe this will go alright, even if it does sound pitifully like how Toys “R” Us is doing pop-up stores in Macy’s. There is almost no chance that this is going to go off exactly like how it’s being described and it certainly won’t “make history in its own way.” Unless of course, it flops harder than the first Fyre Festival.
