Peacock has just unleashed the first terrifying teaser trailer for its new series with the misleading quaint name, “Teacup.” The show is loosely based on the 1988 sci-fi novel “Stinger” by Robert McCammon. The book tells the story of the troubled small town of Inferno, Texas.

Inferno is already falling apart due to racial tension, gang violence, and a collapsing economy. But things go from bad to worse when an unidentified spacecraft crash lands in the desert outside of town. It is soon followed by a second craft bearing the alien creature known as Stinger. As it turns out, Stinger is an interstellar hunter on a mission bringing with him an array of technological marvels along with an infinite capacity for destruction.

The short teaser for “Teacup” focuses mostly on the terror of humans losing control over their environment. This series follows a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat to survive.

The series stars Yvonne Strahovski (“The Tomorrow War”), Scott Speedman (“Animal Kingdom”), Chaske Spencer (“Twilight”), and Kathy Baker (“Edward Scissorhands”). Alongside Boris McGiver (“Servant”), Caleb Dolden (“Follow Me”), Emilie Bierre (“Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent”), and Luciano Leroux (“Yellowjackets”).

Directors E.L. Katz, John Hyams, Chloe Okuno, and Kevin Tancharoen are all attached for currently untitled episodes. “Teacup” is executive-produced by horror mainstay James Wan under his Atomic Monster banner.

“Teacup” will premiere exclusively on Peacock on October 10th. You can check out the first teaser trailer below:
