Kit Harrington Says Jon Snow Series “Firmly on Shelf”

In another bit of HBO shelving something news, sounds like yet another one of those “Game of Thrones” spinoffs is NOT happening now. First revealed back in June of 2022, a Jon Snow-centric spinoff series titled “SNOW” was pretty much confirmed by author George RR Martin. Likewise, series star Kit Harrington seemed pretty sure this was a done deal.

But, as time has moved forward and “House of the Dragon” is all the rage, it sounds like maybe “SNOW” isn’t happening.

“Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough,” Harrington told ScreenRant. “So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.”

Well…that sucks. We were mostly looking forward to the possibility of more Arya, too. Getting to see Maisie Williams (“The New Look“) continue the story of the youngest Stark daughter on her adventures would have been amazing.

There are still a few (*cough* SEVERAL) “Game of Thrones” spinoffs in various states of development at HBO. Things like “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” which just got casting news. Or Aegon’s Conquest, which “The Batman” scribe Mattson Tomlin is handling. There’s also the Corlys Velaryon/Sea Snake-centric “Nine Voyages,” which will be an animated project.

So, while we won’t be getting more KING IN THE NORTH anytime soon, there will still be plenty of ‘Thrones. “House of the Dragon” season 2 hits June 16th.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
