First and foremost, YES Kathleen Kennedy is still President at Lucasfilm, so all you haters can just stop right there. Today’s news is that Dave Filoni, longtime writer, producer, and director has been promoted officially to the rank of Chief Creative Officer in the galaxy far, far away. He was already Executive Creative Director, a position he was appointed to back in 2021.
This means Filoni will be on the ground floor of creative choices moving forward. He’ll be working directly with Kennedy, as well as veteran producer Carrie Beck (who is now Head of Development).
“In this new role, it’s opened up to basically everything that’s going on,” Filoni said. “When we’re planning the future of what we’re doing now, I’m involved at the inception phase.”
We do know he’s working on a “Star Wars” feature film, which may or may not be “Heir to the Empire.” Considering “Ahsoka” sort of set the groundwork for such a story, we’re hopeful this is the case.
We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
Mary Anne Butler
Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
