The best of both Dreamworlds is coming to Epic Games’ “Fortnite” in the form of a Barbenheimer themed map. This marketing combination of “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” is mostly due to the fact both movies are opening in theaters this weekend. The two movies are clearly complete opposites, yet many theaters are offering tickets to both as a double feature. The last time we saw something remotely similar was back in 2020 when “Doom Eternal” and “Animal Crossings: New Horizons” released on the same day.
“Fortnite” creator Squatingdog decided to create a map that represents the success of both movies. The “Barbie” half of the small Nuketown-esque has been renamed Dollie in-game to avoid copyright problems. This half is pink with dreamhouses galore and colorful props. The “Oppenheimer” side is bleak and depressing, full of soldiers exhausted by war. The map even goes as far as to offer a nuke that atomizes the whole map, available after reaching a 21 kill streak.
The trailer for the map really captures the amount of creativity needed and the great utilization of “Fortnite’s” map maker feature. Epic Games released a lot of new creator tools earlier this year, tools that players have been making good use of. While many have made impressive maps full of depth, others have used the tools to essentially put all new games inside of “Fortnite.”
