Chris Gore‘s “Attack of the Doc!” just got a spiffy new trailer! This upcoming film seeks to explore what actually happened to G4TV and its flagship show “Attack of The Show!” Which launched the careers of hosts Olivia Munn and Kevin Pereira. It was a daily series that centered around video games, technology, movies, comic books, the internet, and pop culture. The series debuted in March of 2005 and ran until 2013 when it was abruptly canceled.

At a time, social media was still in its infancy, this was one of the best ways to stay on top of “nerdy” topics that mainstream outlets weren’t reporting on. This made “Attack of The Show!” a lot more than just a show, it fostered a community that gathered to chat about whatever was happening on the internet. Both Munn and Pereira connected with the audience because they were also in these fandoms. Making everything feel more like a giant geek family than a traditional news program.
But “Attack of The Show!” didn’t just launch Munn and Pereira, other on-camera talent included Sarah Lane, Zach Selwyn, Sara Jean Underwood, Wil O’Neal, Adam Sessler, Morgan Webb, Alison Haislip, Carrie Keagan, Blair Butler, Blair Herter, Jessica Chobot, Candace Bailey, and many more. Along with “Attack of the Doc!”’s writer and director Chris Gore, who did their DVDuesday segment.

10 years after its cancelation the cast are still being asked at Comic Cons, “What happened to G4TV and Attack of the Show?” This a valid question considering the wild popularity of both. Their seemingly abrupt cancelations were shocking for many. “Attack of the Doc!” seeks to explain why both G4 and “Attack of The Show!” were axed. By reliving some of the show’s best moments, catching up with the cast and creators, and investigating what really happened.
More recently, G4 DID come back in 2021. But then went away again in October of 2022.
“Attack of the Doc!” is currently on the festival circuit with its next stop being the Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, CA on April 21st. You can buy tickets here. It will be coming to VOD on April 24th or this year. Check out the nostalgia-blasted trailer below:
