If you booked a trip to Disney World this week then you might want to skip your flight, or at least reschedule to when it’s not hurricane season. Now, thanks to Hurricane Ian Disney World has made the difficult decision to close the parks. Disney does not usually close their doors to the Magic Kingdom but seeing as this is now of great concern, they don’t want to risk it. Last time Disney shut their doors due to a hurricane was in 2017 during Hurricane Irma.
Here is the statement released by Disney earlier today.
Given the latest projections, the theme parks and water parks will be closed on Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday September 29. Disney Springs will be closed Wednesday, September 28. We anticipate Disney Springs will be closed on Thursday September 29 and we will provide updates as we continue to track the storm. We are monitoring weather conditions so we can make timely decisions for the safety of our Cast and Guests, including when it’s safe for Cast to return to the site to prepare for reopening.
