Nickelback Announce New Album “Get Rollin’,” Release 1st Single

Nickelback is releasing a new album, “Get Rollin’.” This will be the Canadian rock band’s 10th, their last being 2017’s “Feed the Machine.”

Back in August, the band shared an audio teaser of their new song. Many were surprised by how heavy it was. Loudwire described the track as having a “bit of a metalcore twinge to it.” Which is a pretty accurate description of the type of heavy we are talking about here. Which is to say…not a lot.

“It’s actually interesting because I think Nickelback fans would know for sure.” He continued “I don’t think it’s unusual, that type of song, for us,” Guitarist Ryan Peake said. “It’s not necessarily indicative of the whole album, but as far as rock, it’s a heavy rock song. And if you’ve seen us live, you would definitely get it, too. I think it’s nice, I kind of like that people are feeling like it’s a surprise that we could write or we could have rock songs like that in our repertoire.”

The album’s first single, “San Quentin,” was released today. Frontman Chad Kroeger penned the tune after meeting with a warden from the infamous California prison while he was attending a birthday party for celebrity chef Guy Fieri.

“We’ve spent the last few years making a record at a pace that gave us the freedom to create and we can’t wait for everyone to hear the new music,” the band says about the album. “We’ve missed the fans and look forward to bringing the new songs to life on stage, so let’s Get Rollin’!” [We see what you did there.]

“Get Rollin’” releases November 18th, and features 10 tracks. There will also be a deluxe edition with acoustic versions of 4 of the songs. Check out the lyric video for “San Quentin” below.
