Don’t Worry, Danny DeVito Wasn’t Having a Meltdown

If you’ve logged onto Twitter recently, you’ve probably seen a series of bizarre tweets from Danny DeVito. The iconic New Jersey actor tweeted things ranging from obscene (“I’d rather fist my dog than be in a relationship. Piss my pants!”), to heartfelt (“I love a good mother daughter relationship”), to obscure (“Get ready for some Hot Sauce”) this week.

I love a good mother daughter relationship

So…what’s going on? Has Danny DeVito suddenly snapped and decide to vent the inner workings of his brain onto Twitter like some other celebrities have? Or is Twitter seriously glitching out?

Nope. As eagle-eyed Twitter user @Jbandos noticed, the 77-year-old actor probably just isn’t used to how Twitter works.

Danny DeVito is live tweeting the new animated show he’s in but did not announce it as such and isn’t threading any of his tweet so he looks like he’s becoming unhinged out of context pic.twitter.com/3qniRJfr6g

As it turns out, DeVito was live-tweeting the premiere of his new show “Little Demon,” which stars himself, Aubrey Plaza, and his real-life daughter Lucy DeVito. His tweets make a lot more sense as repetitions of and reactions to lines from an animated show about Satan reconnecting with his half-human daughter than as a loose series of unconnected tweets. But, since DeVito didn’t use a hashtag or thread his tweets or…you know, tell anyone that’s what he was doing, we instead got this delightfully unhinged set of rambles.

Everyone on the a west coast wondering if I’m insane. Watch Little Demon at 10 PM tonight on FXX or tomorrow on Hulu . All your questions will be answered. @LittleDemonFX @Lucydevito @evilhag
