Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” Trilogy Coming to Netflix Next Month!

Tom Holland may be the current Spider-Man, but if some recent cameo appearances have taught us anything, it’s that Tobey Maguire‘s webslinger still holds a place in the hearts of millions. So it’s in that spirit that we’re happy to report that the Sam Raimi trilogy of “Spider-Man“ films is coming to Netflix. In even better news, you won’t have to wait that long for it to happen either!

    Spider-Man (2002) – Sony Pictures

The first in the Raimi trilogy was released back in 2002 and did a LOT of business, $825 million-worth, roughly. Though its stars Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and Willem Dafoe were well known beforehand, this movie alone cemented them a place in popular culture. It, and it’s sequel, helped put superhero movies on the map. Raimi’s “Spider-Man” went a long way towards paving the path towards the MCU, which kicked off six years later with “Iron Man.”

    Spider-Man 2 – Sony Pictures

2004’s sequel “Spider-Man 2″ blasted onto screens and gave us Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, Spidey’s new villain. Generally considered an even better film than the prior installment, it didn’t quite earn as much at the box office. We can all agree it gave us one of the better supervillain performances in comic book movie history. It’s also representative of the series zenith before we hit chapter 3.

“Spider-Man 3″ landed in 2007, and was the highest grossing of the trilogy. Along with being the most divisive. Stories have long been told about what went wrong with the film. A big part of it being the forcing of Venom (Topher Grace) into a plot that already had two other villains. It was already a tight fit with Sandman (Thomas Hayden Church) and Harry Osborne (James Franco) already being threats against Spidey, but throwing Venom into the mix as well? The results were… mixed at best.

All three of the films will be available for streaming on Netflix starting August 1st, 2022. So get your organic web-shooters ready and take a swing with some of the most memorable superhero films of all time.
