Nabisco Oreo Announces New Flavor Neapolitan!

Oreo’s official TikTok and Instagram have announced a new flavor- Neapolitan! That’s right, Oreo will be giving their sandwich cookie spin on the classic tri-flavored treat. The snack will consist of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry layers of cream. 3 layers will certainly be interesting to twist apart.

It also swaps out the classic chocolate cookie for a waffle cone-flavored one. They will even have the signature waffle cone crisscross pattern stamped in. Just in case you forgot, this is a popular flavor of ice cream.

To be fair, this flavor is a bit of a cheat, since it’s really 3 different ones combined. But, when you have a seemingly endless line of flavors, combinations are inevitable. Even this is technically a rehash of another Neapolitan flavored Oreo.

Some may remember in the Summer of 2011 Nabisco announced their Triple Double Oreo line. Which combines three wafers with two layers of creme, one is vanilla, and the other is chocolate. Soon after came the Neapolitan Triple Double flavor. That treat replaced the vanilla cream with a strawberry. It also swapped out the traditional chocolate cookies for golden Oreos, once again giving us the triple flavor combination.

Though this flavor should be fairly different since there is now a waffle cone-flavored cookie, not to mention less cookie overall. Considering a big criticism for the Triple Double line was they were 100 calories per cookie! Where a traditional Oreo is 160 calories per 3 cookies. Meaning they are only, roughly, 54 calories per cookie. But many would argue that calories are irrelevant when it comes to the perfect way to top a bowl of Neapolitan ice cream.

This limited edition Oreo Neapolitan flavor will be hitting shelves sometime in July, 2022.
