    [CinemaCon] Universal’s “Wicked” Movie Adaptation Splits in Two

    This just in from CinemaCon 2022 happening right now in Las Vegas-

    Universal Pictures’ upcoming live-action adaptation of hit Broadway musical “Wicked” is getting split. Now in two parts, the film(s) will release Christmas Day 2024, with part 2 on Christmas Day 2025.

    Based on Gregory Maguire‘s “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West,” the musical serves as a prequel to the events of The Wizard of Oz. Oscar nominee Cynthia Ervio will star as Elphaba, and pop sensation Arianna Grande will star as Glinda.

    “Crazy Rich Asians” director Jon M. Chu will helm “Wicked“ for Universal.
